Iva's Book & Reviews

Precious Years Leaps & Bounds (eBook)
For only 9.99

The purpose of this book is to inspire parents and grandparents to create a home environment that is safe and educational as well as enjoyable.  In doing so we (collectively) could rest easier and enjoy our time with the children in our home. The focused age range of this book is for children starting from infancy through the preschool years. Do keep in mind, when gathering information from this book, there is no “one-way street.” When caring for little ones, everyone’s setup is different. Iva, the author, has learned over the years to be flexible. Every child has different needs based on their personalities, strengths, abilities, and interests. This book is written as a guideline to help with the basic needs concerning the care of little ones.

How could this help someone like me?

  • Are you a parent or grandparent?
  • Do you care for little ones and find that you sometimes struggle in how to keep the group calm and entertained?
  • Maybe you struggle with how to organize and plan your daily routine.
  • Perhaps you have run out of fun things to do and you are looking for activities that not only entertain the little ones, but also educate them while having fun.
  • You might be a parent struggling with transitioning your child from diapers to potty training.
  • How to figure out a nap routine.
  • How to teach your toddler social and sharing skills.
  • How to handle a tantrum.

This book is a guide for parents and grandparents, new and experienced in caring for little ones. Think of it as a tool in how to create your environment for infants as well as toddlers up to the age of three and preschoolers for up to the age of four or five. This book is set apart from other parenting books because it will demonstrate a different structure set up for each particular age group that is both educational and fun for the different levels of child development in a small in-home environment.

This review is from: Precious Years Leaps & Bounds: How to Minimize Frustration & Maximize Success While Caring for Little Ones (Kindle Edition)
I found this well-written and edited book to be an excellent resource. As a special needs teacher it is sometimes difficult to find practical resources for the younger student. I have recommended this book to several teachers as a good starting place on classroom organization for the toddler and pre-school aged student. Ms. Dumas offers clear guidelines when setting up a "space" for play, napping and the like that can easily generalize from a home-based environment to a school-based environment. This book offers great checklist and or helpful resources that a teacher of special needs could use to start setting up a new classroom that is both age-appropriate and safe. I hope other readers will get a copy of this tidy, handy book of practicality!

My daughter attended Precious Years from 3 months to 3 years old. I absolutely love Precious Years!  Iva made me feel confident in leaving my daughter in her care.  Not only did she provide a safe, nurturing environment but she also taught me a lot and became part of my support system.  We all wish there was a handbook for parenting, Precious Years is the closest thing I've found to it.

From letter of reference

“From my experience with Iva, I have a great deal of trust for her and the services she provides.  I trust that she is very honest and wants the best for us and our child. Iva was very helpful with our son Michael.  He was delayed a bit in his language development, and Iva welcomed in a language specialist to her home day care to help Michael with his skills. Iva was fair in her fees and delivered great value for the services she provided for our son. Iva has always been accessible.  We have her phone number and could always call her or could visit with her at her home with any questions or needs that we had.”
